Wii Sports Resort

You're really going to need the wrist strap.

Source // Nintendo

I was fairly certain that I hadn't played the original Wii Sports until 2020, some fourteen years after its release, and if that was the case for the entertainment juggernaut that was Wii Sports, what do you think happened with its MotionPlus enhanced sequel, Wii Sports Resort? Did I see the error of my ways and seek to correct my poor judgement as soon as possible?

Hell no. I didn't get around to experiencing the insane overhaul until 2020 when I played a whole bunch of Nintendo Wii titles to get them out of the way before the batteries died and I keeled over from exhaustion.

Most active weekend of the year, that gaming session...

Let's Tap

Let's not?

Source // Nintendo Life

"Wii" and "Gimmick". Two words that are often found together, but whether that's for a good or bad reason largely depends on who you ask.

Having not owned a Nintendo Wii in its prime, and finding no major reason to keep the batteries in the Wiimote in 2021, if you ask me, the two words have a slightly negative lean to them. A Nintendo Wii game has to be really rather special to overcome that feeling, preferably making use of the controller in a way that no other console can do.

Let's Tap goes a step further, and gets players to use the Wiimote in a way no Nintendo Wii game ever did: by not even touching the fancy motion-sensing controller at all.

Bold move? Must have worked at least well enough to warrant a look in by those who follow a 1001 must-play video games list for fun...

Rayman Raving Rabbids

Gelato?

A long, long time ago, I had to be content with whatever I could get hold of for the PlayStation. Before it had a lot of classics, you would have to enjoy the not so stellar offerings. I had Rayman, a cartoony 2D platformer that I absolutely couldn't make progress through, and ever since then, I've ignored the character and the games he stars in.

Some of the more recent titles, like Rayman Origins, look fantastic, don't get me wrong, but my view of the series has been tainted by bad gaming experiences in my formative years, and that's hard to get past.

It's also been sullied a little by the stars of the next must-play game, Rayman Raving Rabbids, huge, dopey, Minions-like rabbits who ceaselessly serve as the butt of each and every joke. If you dislike Minions, the mute Rabbids might be a more palatable alternative, but they are basically the same thing, and here, they're challenging you to a whole bunch of absurd mini-games.

Clubhouse Games

42 All-Time Classics

I'm a gamer of all kinds. Video games, obviously, but also board and especially card games. If only there was a game that, for example, brought 42 all-time classic pub and parlour games into one portable, multiplayer package. Something like Clubhouse Games for the Nintendo DS.

Card games, board games, even action games find a home here, in a package that introduces modern gamers to stalwarts of the tabletop. When times are you tough, and you don't know how to distract yourself, why not see what Clubhouse Games has to offer?

WarioWare: Twisted!

Again!

Can you make a game about ironing? You can indeed, and thankfully this game is so short that it's over in three seconds. Did you iron that shirt, or did your tilt sensor go mental and the iron go A.W.O.L. in WarioWare: Twisted!, another bunch of mad mini-games for your Game Boy Advance?

Wario is back for more mayhem, and he's here to show off some advancements in technology, too. We've definitely got time to play this one.

WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!

Play!

I was caught off guard by the last Wario title, and the fat maniac is back again in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!, a Game Boy Advance title like no other.

Some games give you time to practice the controls. Some games tell you the rules of their world. WarioWare gives you five seconds and a one-word clue to figure out what to do before you fail.

Sounds pretty good, actually.
